LeBron Raymone James Sr. (born December 30, 1984) is an American professional basketball player with the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The nickname is King James he is widely thought of as one of the most successful athletes of all time. He is often compared to Michael Jordan in debates over the greatest basketball player ever. James has won four NBA championships four NBA MVP award and four NBA Finals MVP awards three All-Star MVP awards and two Olympic gold medals. James has scored the most points in the playoffs the second most career points and is the seventh player with the most assists in his career. James is a member of 18 NBA All-Stars and 18 All-NBA Teams, and five NBA All-Defensive First Team selections. The third highest number of NBA Finals ever was ten, with eight being consecutive between 2011-2018. James was selected to an NBA 75th Anniversary Team and became the NBA's very first player to have attained 10,000 points or more, rebounds, and assists in his career in 2022. James played for St. Vincent St. Mary High School in Akron in Ohio. James was feted by media across the nation as the future NBA superstar. As a prep-to-pro player, he was selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers with the first overall pick in 2003's NBA draft. In 2004 he was named NBA Rookie. He soon was one of the league's best athletes, winning the NBA MVP title in both 2009 and the year 2010. After failing to win a championship with Cleveland James left in 2010 as a free agent in order to be a part of the Miami Heat this was announced during the TV program The Decision and is among the most controversial free-agent choices in sports history.
